STRATOSPHERIC WARMING AND HOW IT IMPACTS US

The sudden stratospheric warming event(SSWE) that took place last weekend can be seen in this graphic. Notice how it split the polar vortex into two sides. One side is pouring cold air into Europe. The other has started to pour colder air into North America especially into the western regions.  This will cause a pattern shift and temperature shift in the eastern region in about two weeks. If you can see as we enter March it starts to get colder into the eastern half of the country. The graphic shows that this cold will get as far south as the deep south as seen by the red mark.  If you look at Greenland it has a deep purple color. That is the blocking of the NAO which will start to go very negative in about two weeks. This will bring us back to winter as March begins and will hold it in instead of letting it out. This will bring the possibility of wintry storminess as we begin the month of March.  What will we see? Who knows :}
